Rescuer Training and Rotary Clean Water Project
OE-0031 - October 2018 - SAF 2 - Caribbean - Haiti - Cap Haitien - OpEndev
The Operation Endeavor team returned to Northern Haiti for the seventh time in two years to continue our work training rescuers, building the local emergency response system, and providing administrative support for the Gift of Water/Rotary International Clean Water Program serving over 1,000 local families living in the poverty-stricken slums of the Cap-Hatien, Haiti area. Much progress was made including the start of a promising partnership with Dr. Eugene Maklin and New Hope Hospital in Plaine-du-Nord, Haiti. The team trained and equipped another 24 rescuers, supported by a grant from the PA Foundation and generous donations from corporate sponsors including Catskill Regional Medical Center and America’s Life Savers, LLC. In addition, continued support was provided to local partners including the parish of Notre Dame d’Altegrace, a Catholic church in one of the most depressed communities in the area, and Foyer Enfants du Monde, a local children’s program.
